A homeschool tutorial provides support to parents by offering structured classes that complement and enhance their at-home education. Parents drop off their students for lessons designed to reinforce and enrich their learning experience. Classical education upholds a rich heritage of truth-seeking, intellectual freedom, and moral development, cultivating curious, thoughtful, and virtuous learners.
Classical education is a time-tested, structured, and holistic approach to learning that emphasizes rigor, intellectual development, and character formation. Rooted in the Great Books, the Trivium, and a focus on virtue, it draws from the ancient Greek and Roman educational traditions, aiming to cultivate wisdom, eloquence, and moral integrity in students. Saints Classical Academy builds on the teachings of Aristotle, Dorothy Sayers, and Charlotte Mason to curate its curriculum. As Charlotte Mason famously stated, “The mind feeds on ideas, and therefore children should be fed a generous curriculum.” This philosophy underscores the Academy’s commitment to rich, meaningful education that nurtures both intellect and character.
A tutorial is a drop off program. In a co-op, every parent stays on campus or participates to make the school happen.
No, If you are in high school, middle school, or an all-inclusive student, we will make grade recommendations that you can use for reporting. As a homeschooler there are several options for homeschooling that we can walk you through, if needed.
At Saints Classical Academy, we believe in partnering with families. We provide the necessary resources and guidance to support your student’s learning at home.
For middle and high school students, the need for parental assistance is minimal. A key principle of classical education is fostering self-motivation and a love for lifelong learning. At this stage, students primarily require supervision rather than direct instruction, as they develop independence and personal responsibility in their studies.
For middle and high school, all subjects will be taught in alignment with Tennessee state requirements, integrated with a rich classical education. A core virtue of Saints Classical Academy is biblical instruction—we are committed to ensuring that every student not only reads the Bible but understands and applies its teachings.
In elementary, our all-inclusive students will receive instruction in every core subject. Students enrolled in tutorial dayswill focus on History, Science, and Bible, but these subjects will also incorporate art, art history, music, drawing, geography, and catechism, creating a well-rounded learning experience.
For our youngest learners (Kindergarten and 1st grade), we emphasize explicit phonics instruction alongside foundational math skills, providing a strong academic start.
For all inclusive students it will vary depending upon age. The youngest students should spend less than one hour sitting and doing work. Life provides many lessons that don’t require sitting. As students get older their work increases but it should not take them more than 3 hours per day. I do not recommend any student sitting for 3 hours completing book work. This is something we will help parents with.
Students who are just participating in tutorial days, will only have light reading and practice at home. Older elementary students will occasionally be assigned practice or papers to write at home. On tutorial days, all work is completed in class.
Elementary students will meet twice a week. Middle and High School students will meet two-three times a week.
At Saints Classical, each school day begins with worship as students gather on campus to honor the Lord. Together, we will sing a hymn, recite the Apostles’ Creed, and pray—offering the first fruits of our day to Him.
Following worship, students will transition to their classrooms, where they will embark on a rich and engaging day of learning.
While we are not equipped to accommodate students who require significant assistance, we have successfully supported students who thrive outside of traditional classroom settings. We encourage families to discuss their child’s unique needs with our academic advisors at Saints Classical to determine if our program is the right fit.
